Chelsea slap mammoth price tag on Enzo Fernandez
Chelsea have reportedly slapped a €136 million price tag on Enzo Fernandez’s head in a bid to ward off interest from Real Madrid.
The Argentina international has been continually linked with a Santiago Bernabeu switch since the start of 2025, with reports in Spain suggesting that he has been identified as Xabi Alonso’s dream midfield target.
Los Blancos failed to sign a replacement for Luka Modric following his exit on a Bosman deal to AC Milan this summer and they are eager to rectify this by bolstering their options in the middle of the park next year.
Several midfielders have been earmarked as possible options by the Real Madrid hierarchy, including Angelo Stiller, Joao Neves and Adam Wharton, however it has been widely reported that Fernandez is at the top of their transfer wishlist.
This has been confirmed by TEAMtalk, who have revealed that Chelsea will demand a fee of at least €136m (£120m) for the 24-year-old.
It has also been reported that Enzo Maresca’s side have no intention of allowing Fernandez to depart, with the Argentina superstar viewed as an integral member of the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge.
He has scored 15 goals and provided 18 assists in 69 matches across all competitions since the start of last season, and TEAMtalk state that he is seen as a “leader for years to come” by the Chelsea hierarchy. A sale is therefore extremely unlikely.
Enzo Fernandez discusses Chelsea transfer truth
During an interview with Koora Break over the November international break, Fernandez delved into how his €121m transfer from Benfica to Chelsea in January 2023 really played out.
“It was a month of a lot of chaos,” he admitted. “Transfers that were happening, transfers that weren't happening. I was very young at that time too. The truth is that incredible things were happening to me in football, but at that time, obviously, that month was all very crazy because one week I was going to Chelsea, the next week I wasn't going.
“That's how it was until the end of the month. It ended up happening on the last day of the market, a very high-value transfer and well, I think it was as it was and I tried to obviously enjoy it in the last few weeks. If it happened, great, and if it didn't, in the end I was at a club like Benfica that gave me everything, but it was crazy. It finally happened.
“Today I am in Chelsea. I went through an incredible process here at the club with many changes and today I feel very good with a group of people who are my team-mates, with whom I share every day, with the coaching staff. The truth is that I feel very happy today.”
