Arsenal and Chelsea are credited with an interest in breakout Bayern youngster Lennart Karl.

The 17-year-old has burst onto the scene in Munich this season, establishing himself as a regular fixture in Vincent Kompany's title-chasing side. Karl has made 11 senior appearances for Bayern and became the youngest-ever Champions League goalscorer in club history in midweek.

Although he only made his first-team debut at the Club World Cup in the summer, the teenager has been a fairly well-known commodity for some time. Karl was widely recognised as one of the biggest talents in Bayern's academy, and his promotion to the senior team looked inevitable.

Earlier this month, Karl was awarded the silver Fritz Walter medal for his exploits with Bayern's youth teams in the 2024/25 season, having alternated between the U17s and U19s. He netted 27 goals and provided 11 assists in 18 outings in the German U17s league last term.

Naturally, with the youngster now making waves in the Bundesliga - he scored a brilliant goal against Monchengladbach today - transfer speculation hasn't been long in coming, and several English giants are credited with an interest in Karl.

Arsenal, Chelsea want Bayern wonderkid

CaughtOffside claims that Arsenal and Chelsea have been scouting the 17-year-old, with club representatives present at the Allianz Arena for the match against Club Brugge in midweek.

It is asserted that Bayern have slapped an initial price tag of up to €80 million (£70m) on the wonderkid, but the report acknowledges that a deal looks difficult to pull off.

There is no chance of anything materialising in January. An approach next summer is posited, but Bayern are unlikely to play ball. They handed Karl a professional contract earlier this year and left an attacking spot in their squad open in the summer to be able to hand him opportunities.

Selling the youngster would make little sense from Bayern's point of view, although the potential return of Jamal Musiala from his long-term injury could diminish the teenager's prospect of minutes. Still, a move away from his boyhood club looks improbable as things stand.
