Man Utd set insane Kobbie Mainoo asking price as Real Madrid circle
Manchester United will reportedly demand a fee of €90 million to sell Kobbie Mainoo in 2026.
The England midfielder has fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim over the past few months and he is yet to start a Premier League match this campaign, despite the Red Devils’ underwhelming form in 2025-26.
Mainoo was eager to leave Old Trafford on loan during the summer transfer window in order to improve his game time ahead of next summer’s World Cup, but Man Utd opted to block an exit in favour of retaining the 20-year-old.
However, he remains a bit-part player under Amorim and rumours of a 2026 exit have gathered speed in recent weeks.
Chelsea are known admirers of the England star, having pursued a deal in January, while speculative reports suggest that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has also expressed an interest in signing Mainoo.
La Liga giants Real Madrid have been tipped as possible suitors for the Man Utd outcast too, with Xabi Alonso determined to sign a new central midfielder next year amid the uncertain future of France international Eduardo Camavinga.
However, Los Blancos are currently unable to finance a move for Mainoo as Man Utd have set their asking price at a whopping €90m, according to Defensa Central.
Kobbie Mainoo to Real Madrid?
Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Mainoo, however they are unable to afford a €90m deal and believe that a fee of €50m is far more reasonable for the midfielder, as per Defensa Central.
Los Blancos are reportedly searching for an heir to both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, and Mainoo has been earmarked as a potential option. However, Real Madrid are currently unwilling to match Man Utd’s asking price and are instead aiming to negotiate a far cheaper fee as they look to land the Englishman in 2026.
Mainoo has less than two years remaining on his existing contract at Old Trafford and rumours of an exit are likely to intensify if he continues to play a minor role under Amorim.
