Ratcliffe holds Carrington summit

Romano detailed why Sir Jim Ratcliffe is taking such an interest in the goings on at Man Utd currently, and what it means for the future of Amorim.

He explained on YouTube: “For Manchester United, the manager is still a topic after a very disappointing start to the season. An important update is about the co-owner of Man Utd Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who was at the stadium for the derby. Don’t underestimate the presence of him. He wants to be part of the process to understand what’s not working, and why Man Utd aren’t performing at their usual level.

“What he did today was to fly to Carrington. He had several meetings with people from the management and staff. Those were planned even before the derby. But there was also a conversation with Ruben Amorim.

“Amorim believes it’s not about the system creating a system. That’s why he’s saying the philosophy is not the problem. He’s convinced it’s not about tactics. And that’s what he keeps telling everyone at the club. Now it’s about getting different results.

“We’re not at the stage of talking about candidates. Man Utd have not started any conversations about other managers, but results can’t continue like this forever.

“What I can guarantee is that Man Utd have not advanced with any other manager. They trust Ruben Amorim but different results are needed.”

Hojlund to Napoli: Man Utd see deal as done

Rasmus Hojlund has started his life at Napoli in impressive form and Man Utd officials are already convinced that the Denmark international will remain with the Serie A champions.

“Hojlund has started very well, and is an important player for Antonio Conte,” Romano said. “The feeling that they have internally at Man Utd is that the obligation for Hojlund will be triggered. Because he’s playing, because he’s an important player for Napoli, and because the plan is for Conte is to have Hojlund as a crucial part of their project for the future.

“Man Utd consider that money - €44m – almost guaranteed for them.”

Rashford sparkles against Newcastle: Barca happy with loan star

Romano has explained that the situation is not so cut and dried for Marcus Rashford, despite a brilliant double against Newcastle United in the Champions League.

“Rashford is starting to perform for Barcelona. For him, the situation is very different to Rasmus Hojlund. It’s a loan with a buy option. But the feeling is that he’s already making an impact at Barcelona. He’s replaced Lamine Yamal in the best way possible,” Romano explained.

“Barca are happy with Rashford’s attitude, his performance and how he is doing his very best to adapt after spending his whole career at Man Utd.

“A few weeks ago, there were reports of Barcelona considering terminating the loan early. It was completely fake. Now you can see how he’s performing and becoming an important player for Barcelona.”
