Chelsea reportedly have “100% genuine interest” in Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as they eye possible move in 2026.

The France international faces an uncertain future under Xabi Alonso at the Santiago Bernabeu and Chelsea are closely monitoring his situation ahead of a potential €80 million deal next year.

Camavinga is yet to feature so far this season due to an ankle injury, although he returned to Real Madrid’s matchday squad for their Champions League clash against Marseille on Tuesday and is in line to make his first appearance of the campaign versus Espanyol this weekend.

However, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde appear to have nailed down starting berths under Alonso, while Arda Guler has also emerged as a key contributor for Los Blancos in a slightly more advanced central role.

Furthermore, Alonso was reportedly eager to bring Stuttgart star Angelo Stiller to the club this summer, suggesting that Camavinga may not feature in his long-term plans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Frenchman still has four years remaining on his current contract with the 15-time Champions League winners, however rumours of a move to the Premier League have intensified in recent months and Chelsea are now firmly in the race to acquire his signature.

That is according to CaughtOffside, who claim that Enzo Maresca’s side are “100%” interested in signing Camavinga, despite the recent addition of Dario Essugo from Sporting CP and the return of Andrey Santos from a successful loan spell at Strasbourg.

Real Madrid are reportedly willing to entertain a sale for a fee of around €80m - a figure that exceeds Camavinga’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) by over €20m.

However, his status in the game and his potential suggests that €80m could actually be a bargain. That’s certainly what data analytics experts SciSports believe.

Eduardo Camavinga to Chelsea?

According to SciSports, Camavinga is currently the second-best midfielder in world football, while he also boasts the second-highest potential of any player in that position. Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch is the only player ahead of him in both categories.

As a result, it suggests that Chelsea’s midfield would vastly improve if they are able to sign Camavinga, despite the plethora of options already available to Maresca.

The Real Madrid star is also capable of filling in at left-back, which could ease the pressure on Marc Cucurella to play the vast majority of matches across all competitions.

Furthermore, Camavinga has crucial experience in the Champions League and this could help a youthful Chelsea side as they navigate the tournament for the first time since 2022-23.

However, the Blues will, of course, need to persuade Camavinga to leave arguably the biggest club in world football, which won’t be an easy task.
