Tottenham are once again interested in signing Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, FootballTransfers can confirm.

Spurs have appointed former Bees boss Thomas Frank as their new head coach following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, with the Danish tactician jumping at the chance to manage the North London club in the Champions League next season.

FootballTransfers understands that Frank made his desire to take the job clear the moment initial contact was made. Moreover, sources informed us that the 51-year-old's switch could see Tottenham reignite their long-standing pursuit of Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard.

While not a specific request on the part of Frank, the coach wouldn't turn down a reunion with a key player from his Brentford days. Spurs' interest in the 31-year-old, though, dates back to at least 2023.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed in November 2023 that Tottenham are huge admirers of the midfield general. The fact that Norgaard is now two years older is not a dealbreaker for Spurs, who are keen to add a bit of experience to their midfield ahead of their Champions League campaign.

Spurs still want Norgaard

Norgaard has been Brentford's captain since 2023 and was nigh on ever-present under Frank when fit and available. In the season just gone, he made 34 Premier League appearances and chipped in with a respectable five goals and four assists.

The 35-time Denmark international has shown that he is capable of performing at a solid Premier League level and would no doubt be a valuable addition to this young Spurs squad.

Moreover, Norgaard is intimately familiar with Frank's tactical ideas and could help make the transition from Postecoglou's dogmatic gung-ho football to his compatriot's more pragmatic and flexible style easier for the other players.

Brentford, who are at risk of being completely disassembled this summer, would of course be loath to lose also their captain and won't make life easy for Spurs and their beloved former coach.

However, Spurs' concrete interest in the player, paired with the allure of Champions League football, could make Norgaard one to watch this summer.
