Liverpool already planning to break Florian Wirtz transfer record with €180m deal

Florian Wirtz is not yet a Liverpool player, but the Anfield club are already plotting to break the transfer record he will set in what is quickly becoming a historical transfer window for the Merseyside club.
Wirtz is expected to arrive at Arne Slot’s side from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth around €140 million, which is not only a club-record transfer, but a British one.
This deal is expected to be concluded imminently, and Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who has been the mastermind of this thrilling summer, is lining up another blockbuster move, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs.
Liverpool launch Alexander Isak bid
Liverpool are ready to go in big for Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, who has long been touted as the club’s dream signing.
Any thoughts that signing Wirtz, as well as Jeremie Frimpong, who has joined from Bayer Leverkusen for €40 million, and Milos Kerkez, who will arrive from Bournemouth, would satisfy the Reds this summer have been blasted out of the water with this news.
Writing for GMS, Jacobs confirms that Liverpool are eyeing an enormous deal for Isak, who scored 23 goals in 34 Premier League appearances for Newcastle last term.

“They are prepared to lodge an offer worth £100m [€117m] plus add-ons, which would see the overall package surpass the figure agree with Bayer Leverkusen for Wirtz,” he writes.
Isak, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €117.5m, has been a leading candidate for many of the Premier League clubs for several months thanks to his exploits with Newcastle in recent seasons.
After firing the Geordie club into the Champions League for the 2025/26 campaign, it had been assumed that the Magpies will not sell.
Liverpool appear prepared ready to test Newcastle’s resolve, with Sky Sport Switzerland having reported in March that the Anfield side are preparing a bid of €180m for Isak.
