Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim’s quest to significantly strengthen his squad will see the Red Devils spend lavishly in the summer transfer market on three players.

Man Utd’s miserable Premier League campaign continued on Sunday as they were defeated 2-0 at home by West Ham United, with goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen consigning them to a 17th league defeat of the campaign.

With fixtures to come against Chelsea and Aston Villa, there is a very real danger of the Red Devils finishing as the lowest-ranked safe team, which would be an enormous embarrassment even if Champions League football is secured by beating Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on 21 May.

Amorim wants three attackers

Amorim is seeking at least three new faces to ensure there is not a repeat of this terrible season, with the Portuguese planning a triple raid on fellow Premier League teams to primarily bolster his attacking options.

First up is Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Matheus Cunha, a player who is already on the verge of signing for the club.

Cunha will cost around €63 million, with the Brazil international’s release clause set to be triggered. He has already confessed his “love” of the club and a deal here looks inevitable.

Another name often linked with the Red Devils is Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. Although the Tractor Boys have been relegated, Delap has enjoyed an eye-catching season while he will arrive for a comparative bargain of €36m. He too has a release clause in his deal, keeping any transfer fee manageable.

The final player who Amorim is targeting for his forward line this summer is Antoine Semenyo, whose power and speed have been such a feature of Bournemouth’s strong campaign. The Cherries want €45m for the winger and that figure appears to be no problem for Man Utd.

Collectively, these three players have an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €146m, showing that United will not be paying over the odds for a major squad-strengthening exercise that this season has shown is absolutely required.
