Wolves boss Gary O'Neil has emphatically ruled out a January sale of Matheus Cunha amid renewed links to Manchester United.

The Brazilian forward is one of the Premier League's most in-form attackers at present. Cunha has netted seven goals and provided three assists in 12 matches so far this term.

Cunha already enjoyed a very solid 14-goal campaign in 2023/24 and he is building on that this season despite Wolverhampton's struggles, particularly in the early weeks.

Thanks to Cunha's four goals and three assists in his last four outings, Wolves are currently on a four-game unbeaten run after a dire opening eight fixtures that saw them win just once.

His form has, naturally, attracted the attention of bigger clubs, just as it did last season.

Man Utd want Cunha...again

Cunha appeared on the radar of Man Utd ahead of the summer transfer window and the Red Devils have once again been associated with the 25-year-old in recent days.

Man Utd are known to be in the market for a striker and Cunha's versatile profile could see him thrive in Ruben Amorim's system, with the Brazilian capable of leading the line himself or playing off a more physical striker like Rasmus Hojlund similar to how he's been operating behind Jorgen Strand Larsen this season.

However, Wolves boss Gary O'Neil has now emphatically ruled out a January sale of his star man when quizzed about the interest in Cunha. "Firstly, there's zero concern on my part," he told Sky Sports. "I want him to play as well as possible.

"I want everyone in the world to want him. That is my job, to help Matheus perform at the highest level possible, so no concerns at all. And also Mine and Matheus' relationship and his understanding of what we're trying to do here is exceptionally good.

"So I don't foresee any problems at all in January with Matheus Cunha. Contract-wise, I'll leave that to the club. Matheus won't leave in January, definitely not." Cunha is still tied to Wolves until 2027, so they are not in immediate danger of losing the Brazil international.
