The 2024 January transfer window is now open and clubs across Europe have one month to complete their winter business before the window shuts.

In Italy, Spain and France, clubs have until 31 January to finalise their business, while Premier League and Bundesliga teams have a little longer as their windows shut on 1 February.

Last year, there were several high-profile moves made on January Transfer Deadline Day, including Enzo Fernandez’s €121 million transfer from Benfica to Chelsea.

The Argentina World Cup star was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for the entirety of the window, but the Blues were only able to complete the deal on 31 January.

Other notable January Deadline Day movers in 2023 included Weston McKennie (Juventus to Leeds), Jorginho (Chelsea to Arsenal), Joao Cancelo (Manchester City to Bayern Munich) and Marcel Sabitzer (Bayern Munich to Manchester United). Jorginho was the only one of those four players to move on a permanent deal.

This year, there are several high-profile January transfer sagas that may end up dominating the headlines on Transfer Deadline Day.

Jadon Sancho is expected to re-join Borussia Dortmund on loan from Man Utd - although that deal is highly likely to be formally completed before 1 February - while Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen continue to be linked with a Chelsea exit.

Crystal Palace's Michael Olise has been lined up as a possible replacement for Sancho at Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen if Roy Hodgson's side will sell the Frenchman mid-season.

Tottenham Hotspur are heavily pursuing Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, as first exclusively reported by FootballTransfers, and Arsenal are in the market for a new centre-forward.

Barcelona have already added Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque to their ranks and Real Madrid have also been linked with a new striker as they potentially look for a long-term replacement for the departed Karim Benzema.
