Man City to get Palmer REVENGE by pouncing on out-of-contract Chelsea star
Manchester City are monitoring Ian Maatsen amid ongoing uncertainty over his Chelsea contract, according to a report.
The Dutch left-back has impressed new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino and yet Chelsea were prepared to cash in on Maatsen on Deadline Day. Once it became clear that Marc Cucurella would not be moving to Manchester United, the Blues sought to offload Maatsen instead with talks with Burnley progressing nicely.
Ultimately, an agreement on an initial loan with an obligation to buy the youngster for £31.5 million next summer was reached. But Maatsen rejected the chance to reunite with Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor, where he spent a successful loan last season.

Maatsen instead stayed put and Chelsea are now trying to tie him down to a new contract as his current deal expires at the end of the season - but several clubs are licking their lips at the prospect of snapping the 21-year-old up for free.
City interested
According to 90min, treble winners City are among the clubs keeping tabs on Ian Maatsen's situation with Pep Guardiola keen to add a left-back.
If a deal were to be struck the Manchester side would get a bit of revenge on Chelsea, who snapped up talented City youngster Cole Palmer late in the window.
The Blues will, however, continue their contract talks with the Dutchman and the above-mentioned report states that "sources close to the situation believe Chelsea are hopeful an agreement will be reached soon."

Fabrizio Romano recently said on the matter: "...for Chelsea, it's crucial to have the new contract signed from Ian Maatsen. It's part of their plans and this is something they really wanted to clarify with the player.
"So Maatsen is staying, he rejected Burnley, but Chelsea want a new deal signed as soon as possible."
