Harry Kane wants to join Manchester United from Tottenham, FootballTransfers understands.

A deal for the England captain may not be possible this summer, but Kane is willing to be patient and leave on a free transfer to Old Trafford in 2024, when his contract with Spurs expires.

The 29-year-old has been integral to his club since 2014/15, scoring at least 15 Premier League goals in nine successive seasons and equalling his personal best tally of 30 this term in a team that struggled desperately.

Despite his profile, Kane has never won a major trophy and two years ago pushed to leave Spurs for Manchester City, indicating that he wants to play in a more competitive team. With just a year left on his deal, the ingredients for a move are starting to come together.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, however, is adamant that Kane will not leave for Man Utd, which is a fact that Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is aware of. Consequently, the Old Trafford side are exploring other options, such as Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

According to FootballTransfers’ sources, Ten Hag is eager to sign Kane and Man Utd can afford the £100 million required to even get Tottenham considering a deal. However, this will take time as United will have to raise the money via player sales.

New Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, who arrived at the London club officially from Celtic on Tuesday, wants the prolific scorer to stay put.

As FootballTransfers exclusively revealed, the striker's future could be pivotal for other transfers, such as that of Jordan Pickford from Everton.

Meanwhile, there is a chance that Kane could allow his contract to wind down and become a free agent next summer, giving him the freedom to choose his next club.

Real Madrid a possibility for Kane

Spurs are more open to a deal with Real Madrid, but it is Kane’s preference to remain in the Premier League and break Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record. He is presently 47 goals short of Shearer’s mark of 260.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is waiting to hear if Tottenham are willing to broker a deal with Los Blancos for Kane this summer. If the Premier League side are open to a deal, Madrid will make their bid and try to convince Kane to give up his record ambition and instead make the move to Spain.

According to FootballTransfers’ sources, Kane is the No.1 target for Real Madrid to replace Karim Benzema with.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is also a keen admirer of the player and would like to sign him, but a deal this summer looks unlikely as the Blues are likely to tighten their belts in the transfer market.
