Perr Schuurs goes into the summer with a choice of clubs – including the potential of reuniting with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

The Limburg-born defender made the switch from Ajax to Torino at the beginning of the 2022/23 season and has grown into one of the quiet strengths of a team currently 10th in Serie A.

Torino spent €9.4 million attracting him to Italy last summer, and they could sell him for a figure several times that, according to Tuttosport.

The Turin-based paper reports that €30m will have to be put on the table by clubs to release Schuurs from his contract next summer.

And there is an illustrious string of teams chasing the former Netherlands U21 star. The defender, who has already played 2,472 minutes for Torino this season, has caught the eye of, among others, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Ten Hag's Manchester United.

The interest from Liverpool and Man Utd is nothing news. The Anfield side were linked with a possible January move, with United's interest emerging in February.

The Red Devils will say goodbye to some redundant players this summer, including Phil Jones and, probably, Harry Maguire.

Ten Hag’s Schuurs history

Ten Hag worked with Schuurs at Ajax in the past and, of course, knows the defender through and through.

The defender won a string of major titles with Ten Hag, among other things, the Eredivisie crown, Johan Cruijff Shield and KNVB Beker.

Although Schuurs could not always count on a starting place under Ten Hag, the coach was certainly impressed by his qualities. It was a lack of game time, though, that saw him leave for Italy.

The decision to move to Torino has so far worked out well for Schuurs.

The centre-back, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €15.8m, was brought in last summer as the replacement for Bremer, who left for Juventus, and quickly managed to claim a starting place.

Despite the enormous interest, it is still questionable whether Torino will cooperate in a transfer. According to Italian media, they have no intention on budging on their €30m demands.
