Manchester United’s Amad Diallo has been hailed for his part in an incredible 4-4 draw that Sunderland played out against Hull City in the Championship on Good Friday.

Amad netted twice for the Black Cats in what was a breakneck game at the Stadium of Light.

Hull moved into an early lead but it was cancelled out as Joe Gelhardt and Amad scored within a minute of each other, the Man Utd man showing fine composure in the box to fire home a go-ahead goal. Their opponents then struck either side of half-time, forcing Amad to level with a penalty with 17 minutes left. Jack Clarke appeared to have claimed the win for Sunderland but Hull replied from the spot after 98 minutes to snatch a point.

Although Sunderland’s playoff hopes have been irrevocably damaged by the point, Amad’s display was hailed by Man Utd fans, many of whom believe that he can make an impression in the first team next season.

The 20-year-old is set to return to Old Trafford in the summer with a big billing, with some fans even comparing him to Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.

Amad completed his loan move to Sunderland at the end of the summer transfer window, with a one-year deal struck with Man Utd.

Initially, he made a slow start, perhaps a symptom of his hangover after a difficult spell with Rangers last season.

However, he really got going in October, scoring five times and creating one more in a run of seven games.

Since then, he has enjoyed more sporadic success, with 11 goals and two assists in his 31 Championship matches for Sunderland.
