Liverpool would be the best fit for Mason Mount, according to former Premier League defender Glen Johnson.

Mount has been linked to a move to the Reds this summer window, as brought to you by FootballTransfers.

He has so far not agreed to fresh terms with Chelsea and looks set to leave in the summer.

The 24-year-old is seriously considering his future at the club owing to the number of signings that the side have made in recent windows.

Indeed, though he is under contract at Stamford Bridge until next summer, Johnson believes a move to Anfield for Mount would be the best step.

''Mason Mount could definitely revive his career at Liverpool,'' the ex-Chelsea and Liverpool player told OLBG. ''He still has a chance at Chelsea too, the bigger players need to raise their games.

''So the door is not shut on his Chelsea career yet, but Liverpool would bite your arm off to get him and Mount would probably do the same to play for Liverpool.''

''At this point, no Chelsea signing has been worth signing because no player can justify their high value in just two months of playing for the team,'' Johnson added.

The Blues have spent close to £600m since the takeover of Todd Boehly but the club are still struggling for form.

Mount AND Bellingham?

Bellingham is Liverpool's priority target

We were told that Liverpool could sign Jude Bellingham and Mount this summer, with the Chelsea midfielder "not viewed as an alternative" by Jurgen Klopp's side.

The Reds are set to overhaul their midfield ahead of next season following a disappointing campaign this time around.

We are told FSG will hand Klopp a significant transfer kitty for the window and their pursuit of Mount will not impact any attempt to buy Bellingham and there is room to bring in both England internationals to Anfield.
