Brighton midfielder Moise Caicedo is set to be one of the top Premier League transfer targets during the January window, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all linked with a move for the midfielder.

Caicedo has been at Brighton since 2020/21 but spent the first half of last season on loan at Beerschot in Belgium. After being recalled because of an injury crisis, the Ecuador international thrived and saw his value skyrocket, rising 400% to €13.2 million, according to FootballTransfers’ estimates.

Now an established member of the Seagulls’ side, his value continues to rise and he is expected to be hot property in the next transfer window or two. Indeed, he is seen as an alternative to Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund by the Premier League’s leading sides.

Manchester United appear to be the team best placed to land the promising midfielder, whose contract on the south coast is up in June 2025.

He has previously dropped hints about moving to Old Trafford, with Man Utd having been linked with him in 2020 before he moved to Old Trafford.

At the time, he said: “My dream is to play for Manchester United because I like English football. The pace is very high, and Manchester United are my favourite club.”

Pogba influence

Caicedo has also revealed, however, that his game has been influenced by that of Paul Pogba, which is liable to receive a cool response from fans of the Red Devils.

“As a midfielder, Pogba was always my favourite player,” he said. “Manchester United was always my team because of Pogba and before that Valencia. He was a winger, then a right-back, and was strong, fast and very intelligent. He was the perfect player for the Premier League and if I can go on and enjoy a career like him, then it will be a dream.”

Regardless of his influences, Man Utd fans are sure to be excited by Caicedo’s words, which suggest they have the edge on Chelsea and Liverpool for now.
