Mohamed Salah issues massive request to potential new club as transfer edges closer

Mohamed Salah has issued a major demand to Super Lig side Trabzonspor during talks over a potential move, according to reports in Turkey.

Salah is a free agent after bringing down the curtain on his legendary Liverpool career at the end of the 2025-26 Premier League season.

The 34-year-old can channel all of his energy into finding his next club after representing Egypt at the World Cup this summer.

Various sources understand Turkish outfit Trabzonspor are currently at the front of the queue to sign the forward.

But Turkish reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims Salah and his representatives have sent Trabzonspor a massive request during negotiations.

Sabuncuoglu understands Salah and his agents would expect to receive 20 to 25 per cent of all shirt sales, should he join Trabzonspor.

And Sabuncuoglu claims the seven-time league champions have said they are willing to accept that proposal, paving the way for a potential transfer.

The news comes after Sabuncuoglu reported on Saturday that Trabzonspor have offered Salah a two-year deal worth €17million (£14.5m) per season.

Former Chelsea and Roma winger Salah was previously linked with a move to Turkish giants Besiktas before a deal collapsed.

Besiktas have since signed Belgium international Leandro Trossard after they agreed a €18m (£15.3m) deal with Arsenal in July.

Should Salah opt to join Trabzonspor, he would taste UEFA Europa League football this season after the club finished third in the Super Lig.

Fatih Tekke’s side, who also lifted the Turkish Cup last season, have Andre Onana on their books after he extended his loan move from Manchester United.

Salah became Liverpool legend during nine-year spell on Merseyside

After spells with Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma, Salah joined Liverpool for an initial €42.6m (£36.5m) in June 2017.

He became a legend for the Reds after scoring 257 goals in 442 appearances, with only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) netting more times for the 20-time league champions.

Salah won eight honours with Liverpool including two Premier League titles in 2019-20 and 2024-25, and one Champions League crown in 2018-19.

He has also scored 68 goals in 121 appearances for Egypt, captaining them to the World Cup knockout phase this summer.

Egypt passed up a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to Argentina in a chaotic last-16 tie which saw manager Hossam Hassan accuse the officials of bias.

The Pharaohs saw a wonderful goal by Haissem Hassan chalked off after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) deemed Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez was fouled in the build up.
