Celtic Transfer News Today: Hoops handed €14m striker discount amid Nancy sack rumours
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Celtic transfer news, including updates on Louis Munteanu and Wilfried Nancy.
Louis Munteanu discount
CFR Cluj president Iuliu Muresan has admitted that he may be forced to sell Louis Munteanu if his side receive a bid worth €6 million during the January transfer window.
Celtic were heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old over the summer, but a proposed deal failed to materialise due to Cluj’s valuation of €20m. However, the Romanian side have now opted to significantly lower their asking price.
“I hope Louis transfers to a club, we get some money and solve our problems,” Muresan told Digi Sport.
“Could Louis Munteanu leave for €6m? I say yes, but I hope it's €7-8m. But he should want to go there too, because the player is not a commodity.”
Wilfried Nancy to be sacked?
Multiple Celtic fans have urged the club to sack Wilfried Nancy after just three games in charge following their 3-1 defeat to St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday afternoon.
The Frenchman has lost all three of his matches at the helm since his arrival from Columbus Crew last week and his new 3-4-3 formation has backfired massively.
As a result, a host of supporters have taken to social media to demand that he is sacked already, with rumours spreading that a departure could potentially be on the cards if results don’t improve soon.
Napoli to allow Giuseppe Ambrosino to leave
Napoli will reportedly allow Giuseppe Ambrosino to leave the club on loan in January following interest from Celtic this summer.
The Italy U21 striker was linked with a Celtic Park switch earlier this year and Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via The Daily Record) claim that a temporary mid-season exit is on the cards.
Romelu Lukaku is close to returning to full fitness and he will battle with summer signings Rasmus Hojlund and Lorenzo Lucca for a starting berth at Napoli in the New Year, with the club happy for Ambrosino to depart on loan in order to bolster his development.
