Brendan Rodgers: Managing some Premier League clubs 'a holiday' compared to managing Celtic
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers reckons managing some clubs in the Premier League is "like a holiday" compared to managing the Scottish giants.
Over two spells at the Hoops, Rodgers has won four Scottish Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and four League Cups.
After an acrimonious departure from Celtic Park to Leicester in 2019, he returned to Glasgow in 2023.
In England, he has managed the Foxes, Swansea and Liverpool.
In an interview with BBC Sport, he detailed the pressure not just to win at Celtic - but win with style.
"Celtic is right up there with the most pressurised jobs in football.
"With Celtic, it's the expectation to win every single game. And not just win the game, but to do it in a style that is synonymous with the club.
"The club was the the first British team to win what would be the Champions League, the European Cup. And they did so in a style and that set the DNA for this club. So, it's not just about winning. Coaches and managers will say, it's only about winning. But at Celtic, it really is more than that.
"You can go to quite a lot of teams in in the Premier League, and it would be nowhere near, it would be like a holiday compared to managing Celtic, and Rangers for that matter."
Will Rodgers stay at Celtic beyond this summer?
At the moment, Rodgers' contract with Celtic expires in the summer of 2026 and there have been no recent rumours about an extension.
Indeed, there have been tensions between the manager and the Celtic board over the last few months after the summer transfer window was deemed to be a failure.
The defending Scottish champions are weaker than they were last season in a number of positions and failed to build upon their extremely positive showing against Bayern Munich in the Champions League play-off last season in which they were only eliminated thanks to an injury time second-leg winner from the German giants.
The tensions are worse between the Celtic fans and the Celtic board as the supporters are demanding the removal of executives like Peter Lawell and Michael Nicholson - while Rodgers stuck is in the middle.
