Basketball icon LeBron James had his say on the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga.

The PSG star continues to be the protagonist of one of the biggest football storylines of the year. The drama began when it was leaked to the press that Mbappe has no intention of triggering the extension in his PSG contract, meaning that he will be a free agent next summer.

After a fierce war of words, the Frenchman has now been exiled from the first-team squad and transfer listed. This has prompted Saudi giants Al-Hilal - who also tried to sign Lionel Messi and Harry Kane - to submit a seemingly irresistible offer.

PSG will get a world-record transfer fee of €300 million, while Mbappe will receive a base salary of €200m with the entire financial package reportedly able to climb as high as €700m - all for just one season so as to allow him to get his dream move to Real Madrid next year.

The French giants have duly accepted the offer, but now it's up to Mbappe and Al-Hilal to reach an agreement, but at this point, reports suggest that the 24-year-old has no intention of heading to Saudi Arabia at this stage in his career. Seeing the ridiculous money being offered to footballers, some NBA stars, including LeBron James, have chimed in on the matter.

What did LeBron say?

The first basketballer to speak on the matter was Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who joked on Twitter - or X: "Al Hilal you can take me. I look like Kylian Mbappe," which Mbappe quote-tweeted with laughing emojis.

In similar fashion, LeBron James posted: "Me headed to Saudi when they call @RichPaul4 & @mavcarter for that 1 year deal," accompanied by a GIF of Forrest Gump running.

LeBron signed a two-year, $97.1m contract extension with the LA Lakers last year - pocket change compared to the financial package offered Mbappe by the Riyadh club.
