Manchester United have been interested in the signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid as they look to bolster their forward ranks in January.

Felix hasn’t had the best time at Atletico Madrid and a departure looks likely as he has recently had rifts with manager Diego Simeone, which has pushed him close to the exit door.

Manchester United are short on attacking options having terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract earlier this month, leaving them with just Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as striking options.

Now, it’s been revealed how much Manchester United will have to pay for him and how a deal can possibly be done for the Portuguese international to move.

Man Utd will have to go big for Felix

Journalist Dean Jones suggest a big £100 million sum is a fair price for Felix to swap the Metropolitano for Old Trafford, and that a loan deal could be possible, provided a permanent transfer is certain in the summer.

“I think £100m is a fair price for him, I really do. But I’m not sure it’s a likely scenario for any Premier League club to pay that in the next month,” Jones said about a possible transfer involving Felix.

“It is very rare for clubs to consider that level of investment in the January market. Perhaps somebody could look to do some sort of loan deal initially, with scope to signing him long-term, if Atletico seem open to that.”

Felix had a positive World Cup with Portugal in Qatar, scoring one goal and providing two assists and was a bright light for the team as a whole, despite Portugal’s shock quarter-final exit to Morocco.

Other than Manchester United, clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona are also interested in signing Felix and a deal is a real possibility in January with the player also keen to leave the Madrid side.
