Real Madrid make shock Vinicius Jr transfer u-turn
Real Madrid have reportedly informed Vinicius Junior they will not improve their current contract extension offer amid rumours he could leave the club this summer.
The Brazil international has just over one year remaining on his deal at the Bernabeu and he has been heavily linked with a high-profile exit for the past few months, with Los Blancos yet to finalise an agreement with his representatives.
It was previously reported that Vinicius refused to pen fresh terms with the Spanish giants during Xabi Alonso’s tenure in charge, due to his fractured relationship with the 44-year-old, but recent rumours have suggested that a new contract is now a formality.
Vinicius has returned to form under interim boss Alvaro Arbeloa and widespread reports in the Spanish press have revealed that Florentino Perez is keen to reward the Brazilian with a new and improved deal in order to retain his services for the foreseeable future.
The 25-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 20 games since the start of 2026 and he had looked set to extend his stay at the Bernabeu. However, such reports have now been disputed by TEAMtalk, who claim that Real Madrid have informed Vinicius’ camp that they will not improve their current offer.
Vinicius Jr to leave Real Madrid?
It’s reported that Real Madrid have no intention of losing Vinicius on a free transfer in 2027 and they are therefore willing to sell him on a permanent deal during the upcoming summer window if he refuses to sign the current deal on the table.
Intermediaries have contacted Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United to discuss the 25-year-old’s potential availability, as per TEAMtalk, while Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have been approached too.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia are also expected to battle for Vinicius’ signature, although it remains to be seen if he will accept a move to the Middle East at this stage of his career.
Vinicius reportedly isn’t pushing to leave Real Madrid, with his representatives locked in talks with Los Blancos over a potential renewal, but an exit is likely to take place if an agreement can’t be reached shortly.
