Vinicius Jr decides Real Madrid future amid transfer speculation
Vinicius Junior has decided that he doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid under any circumstances this summer, according to a bombshell report in Spain.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a Bernabeu exit in recent months, with multiple clubs in the Saudi Pro League eager to finalise a deal for his signature later this year.
Vinicius’ current deal at Los Blancos is due to expire in 2027 and, back in November, he reportedly informed the club that he wouldn’t sign a contract extension unless his relationship with head coach Xabi Alonso improved.
The former Real Madrid midfielder has now departed the club by mutual consent following their defeat to arch-rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday, with Alvaro Arbeloa appointed as his successor.
In response, Vinicius Jr has decided that he wants to renew his contract at the Bernabeu.
That is according to Spanish publication Defensa Central, who claim that Vinicius has concluded that being a Real Madrid player is “the best thing that has ever happened to him.”
However, the Brazil superstar will still need to finalise a contract agreement with Real Madrid before his long-term future at the club is confirmed, with Los Blancos currently unwilling to match his lofty salary demands.
But, an extended stay at the Bernabeu now appears to be on the cards following Alonso’s departure.
Vinicius Jr to stay at Real Madrid
Vinicius’ decision to remain at Real Madrid comes following significant rumours of interest from several Premier League clubs.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been linked with a move for the Brazilian in recent weeks, while rumours suggest that Chelsea view him as a top attacking target.
However, the 25-year-old is set to snub transfer interest from the English top flight in order to remain at Real Madrid for the foreseeable future.
