Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has responded to suggestions he could replace Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona.

The England captain is in the form of his life this season, having netted a stunning 24 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions. Kane and Bayern have looked unbeatable this term.

Because of his exploits, speculation over his future continues to abound. Under contract until 2027, Bayern will be at risk of losing their star striker for nothing if they head into the next season without agreeing an extension.

A return to the Premier League has been mooted, with many convinced that Kane has designs on breaking Alan Shearer's scoring record, and he does have a €65 million release clause. However, it needs to be triggered already in January if he wishes to move in the summer.

So far, there are no suggestions that Kane will make use of this exit mechanism in a season in which Bayern are one of the favourites for the Champions League title.

Kane plays down Barcelona links

In recent days, Kane has also become the subject of links with Barcelona, who are in the market for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is out of contract in the summer, and an extension is unlikely to be forthcoming.

However, speaking to BILD, Kane has dismissed suggestions that he could leave Bayern before the expiration of his contract in 2027. In fact, he believes that talks over a renewal of his deal will soon start.

"I haven't been in contact with anyone, no one has contacted me," Kane said. "I feel very comfortable in the current situation, even though we haven't yet discussed my situation with Bayern.

"There's no rush. I'm really happy in Munich. You can see that in the way I'm playing. If there is contact, then we'll see. It's unlikely anything will change after this season. I'm sure I'll have talks with Bayern in the coming months, then we'll see what's best for the future."
