Real Madrid's transfer window narrative has mostly concerned Kylian Mbappe, despite the fact that the young attacker is unlikely to join the club for several months yet.

Los Blancos have been interested in signing Mbappe for years now - even before he became the second most expensive player in history when he signed for Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco for a reported fee of €145 million.

Even though president Florentino Perez outlined Madrid's supposedly perilous financial situation in the aftermath of the fall of the European Super League plans, the club still tabled a bid of €200m for Mbappe on deadline day.

PSG didn't even bother to respond to the offer, which led to Mbappe staying in Ligue 1.

He is widely expected to sign for Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer of 2022.

Although the Mbappe deal did not go through, Real Madrid were active in the summer transfer window, though January has been far quieter for the Spanish outfit.

What players have Real Madrid signed in 2021-22?

Eduardo Camavinga: €30m - from Rennes

Eduardo Camavinga is recognised as one of the best players at his age in the world and completed a €30m transfer to Santiago Bernabeu before the end of the window.

He hit the ground running superbly, but has been in and out of the team in more recent months.

The Frenchman had previously been linked with a host of clubs around Europe including Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, but Real Madrid always appeared the most likely destination for the him, mainly due to the fact it has always been his "dream" to play at Santiago Bernabeu.

David Alaba: FREE - from Bayern Munich

David Alaba's contract with Bayern Munich ended in June, with negotiations over an extended deal breaking down before the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

The Austrian allegedly wanted to become one of the highest-paid players at the club alongside the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, and Thomas Muller.

A war of words broke out between the parties involved during last season, with Alaba’s agent and father exchanging verbal barbs with some of the club’s directors.

And so, he left, and Madrid picked him up on a free transfer, albeit on exorbitant wages.

What players have Real Madrid Sold in 2021-22?

Raphael Varane: €40m - to Manchester United

Raphael Varane's contract with Real Madrid was due to expire in 2022 and so the club made the decision to cash in on him with a year to go, with Man Utd bringing him to Old Trafford after a decade in Spain.

Martin Odegaard: €35m - to Arsenal

Martin Odegaard started last season well at Madrid but after being deemed surplus to requirements he was eventually loaned out to Arsenal for the last six months of the season.

After receiving no further assurances of playing time upon his return to Spain, he subsequently joined the Gunners on a permanent basis.

Sergio Ramos: FREE - to PSG

It was the end of an era at Real Madrid this summer as legendary defender Sergio Ramos left the club after 16 years.

The World Cup winner was involved in negotiations over a contract extension, but the club were unwilling to grant his request of a two-year deal.

PSG were willing to grant that request, but the move has been a disaster as he's barely played.
