Revealed: Bayern ready to sell Lewandowski to Barcelona after contract rejection

Robert Lewandowski's future at Bayern Munich is on a knife-edge with reports that the Polish forward has informed the Bavarians that he won't be renewing his deal at the Allianz Arena.
Lewandowski is currently contracted at Bayern until 2023, and the Bundesliga giants have made it known they would like to extend his stay.

However, their brief pursuit of Manchester City-bound forward Erling Haaland started things up, and Lewandowski now sees his future elsewhere.
With 20 trophies to his name at Bayern, Lewandowski has experienced a fruitful time of it in Bavaria, but he's reportedly told club bosses that he won't renew his deal and that he wants a move away.
Will Lewandowski join Barcelona?
This news comes courtesy of Florian Plettenberg for Sky Germany, who has revealed that Lewandowski "definitely won’t extend his contract beyond 2023." The Polish international is also keen on a move to Xavi's Barcelona, who have been linked with a move, due to the fact it's his "dream destination," according to Plettenberg.
Concrete talks between Bayern and Barcelona still need to begin before a move can materialise, but Bild have reported that the side based at the Allianz Arena are willing to sell their prized asset.
At 33 years old, and with just one year left on his deal, Lewandowski's value will only decrease if Bayern don't sell this summer so Bayern are open to the idea of selling him during this upcoming transfer window in order to avoid losing him for less money in January or for free next year.
Marca have reported that Barcelona and Lewandowski have held talks, with the Blaugrana's President Joan Laporta personally involved in the discussions. They believe it will take at least €40 million to acquire the Polish striker this summer, which Barcelona reportedly can afford despite their recent financial troubles.
The Camp Nou side have been forced to utilise the free transfer market over the past year due to their debts, but Lewandowski cold change that approach in the market.
Lewandowski has scored 49 goals in just 45 appearances this season, as well as contributing seven assists.
