Why Barcelona may have an advantage over Man Utd in Silva pursuit

Barcelona may have found a significant advantage in their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker and Manchester United transfer target Andre Silva.
According to Spanish media outlet Gol Digital, the Catalan side have joined a growing list of clubs interested in signing the Portuguese forward following his impressive performances in the German top-flight.
So far this season Silva has picked up an incredible 22 goals and seven assists in just 26 games for Frankfurt and has quickly established himself as one of the most in-form strikers in European football.
And with a contract with the Bundesliga side that is still set to run until the summer of 2023, it’s unlikely that Silva will leave Frankfurt this summer for cheap.

However, Barcelona may now feel as though they have a headstart on Man Utd and could beat the English giants to Silva’s signature.
According to German newspaper Bild, the Spanish club have not yet made contact with Frankfurt about enquiring over Silva’s availability.
Yet one fact surrounding the transfer saga that should be of interest to Barcelona fans is that the 25-year-old talent is currently signed up to the football agency Gestifute.
The head of Gestifute is the super agent Jorge Mendes, who Bild claim has a tremendous relationship with new Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
Indeed, Mendes already has a brightest, young talent at Barcelona in the form of Ansu Fati and may offer to help facilitate a move to the Catalan club for another one of his clients.
How much would Silva cost Man Utd or Barca?
Regardless of whether Barcelona do have a slight advantage over Man Utd, it seems as though Silva would still cost a fair amount of money to sign this summer.
Reports in Germany suggest that Frankfurt would be looking for around €40 million for the striker and when asked about his own value Silva suggested something similar.
“Around 105 million?” he joked in early March when asked about his current price tage.
“[laughs] I’m kidding. I think I heard 30 and something somewhere. When we sell our merchandise, we always increase the value a little bit [laughs].”
