Kylian Mbappe will look to Lionel Messi for inspiration as he negotiates his move from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid, whether this summer or next.

Mbappe and Messi have spent the last two years as teammates at PSG, but the latter has now left for David Beckham's project at Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

Mbappe looks set to follow Messi out of the Parc des Princes exit in due course - he has informed the club that he is unwilling to discuss an extension this summer, and Paris are now keen to cash in now rather than lose him on a free in a year's time.

The problem for PSG is that Mbappe stands to gain a total of €275 million if he runs down his contract - a €60m salary next season and €90m loyalty bonus, followed by a potential €125m signing on fee from Real.

And his money-spinning exploits won't stop there according to Spanish outlet OKdiario.

Bumper pay packet

"Kylian Mbappe wants his new contract, whether with Real Madrid or with another club, to include a series of variables like Messi has with Inter Miami that includes income from merchandising or TV rights," they write.

"Everyone around Mbappe knows they can't sign a contract like his current one with PSG: €72m gross per year plus bonuses… the biggest contract in sports history."

Miami's sales from merchandising enjoyed a 4,500 per cent increase after Messi announced that he would be playing his football at the DRV PNK Stadium next season.

Jorge Mas, Inter's co-owner alongside Beckham, has confirmed that Messi will earn close to $60 (€55m) a year in Miami, which includes his salary, signing on bonus and a stake in the club.

Toni Kross is currently Real's highest-paid player, with a gross salary of €24.4m per year, following Eden Hazard's release from the club.
