The new season may have commenced in many top European leagues but there will still be a huge focus on the transfer market over the coming weeks, as teams look to strengthen before the deadline on the first day of September.

As always, Premier League teams have spent heavily so far.

Manchester United have signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to revamp their attack, with Manchester City also flexing their financial power to sign Tijani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki.

Chelsea have signed Liam Delap, Estevao, Jorrel Hato, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, among others.

Arsenal have been very busy, too, bringing in Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Cristhian Mosquera.

The biggest deal so far this summer saw Florian Wirtz complete a blockbuster transfer to Liverpool from Leverkusen, while they also brought in Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth and Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong from the Bundesliga. Luis Diaz went in the other direction, signing for German giants Bayern Munich.

The transfer saga of the summer involves Alexander Isak, who is attempting to force through a departure from Newcastle to Liverpool.

Amorim plays down Mainoo exit rumours

Ruben Amorim has seemingly played down suggestions that Kobbie Mainoo could leave Man Utd.

"We have some issues, but we play with two midfielders and sometimes it's a different way of playing," the United boss told reporters on Friday.

"We, and they, have to understand, especially the young players, there is spaces in the season. This is normal with a lot of games, things are going to change, but he's there, he's fighting, he's training and is one more option for us to win games."

Mainoo has been linked with Tottenham this week.

Tottenham want Morgan Rogers

Tottenham are interested in Morgan Rogers but a deal with Aston Villa is difficult, reports Sky Sports.

"Most Premier League clubs, if not all, would like to sign Morgan Rogers," Michael Bridge said on the Transfer Show.

"I don't think any club would be able to sign Rogers currently. Of course, he's a player Spurs like. He has just won the PFA Player of the Year.  My understanding is he is not a player they are looking to sign at the moment.

"It would be extremely difficult for a club to do a deal for Rogers. Spurs like him and other clubs like him."

Casado unlikely to leave Barca?

It seems like reports linking Marc Casado with a Barcelona exit are wide of the mark. Hansi Flick says he has spoke to the player and no parties want him to leave:

"I spoke with Marc Casado, I don't see him wanting to leave the team, nor do I think I want that either. The season is long, and we want to achieve everything”.

The young Spaniard was previously linked with Wolves, West Ham and Chelsea.

Howe's latest comments on Isak saga

Eddie Howe has been asked about Alexander Isak again. Here's what he had to say:

"My preference is it doesn't [play out] publicly. Everything is better behind closed doors, but needs must. The club has spoken, and probably justifiably so in that moment. Alex is contracted to us. My wish is he would be playing on Monday night with us, but he won't be. That's regrettable. I 100 percent want to see him in a Newcastle United shirt.

"I haven't seen him this week. I saw him last week. When I see him, we speak as normal. There are no issues there between us. It's a difficult situation from both sides. It's far from ideal for both parties. Alex is training later on and detached from the group. We will catch up at some stage."

Tottenham could join Nkunku race

Tottenham could make a late transfer window swoop for Christopher Nkunku.

The French forward is not in Enzo Maresca's plans at Chelsea and the club are desperate to sell him for a decent price so they can continue to reinvest.

He has been strongly linked with a return to the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich but those talks have stalled, so Spurs could try and sign him as a replacement for James Maddison who will miss most of the season with an ACL injury. (TeamTalk)
