The Blues had two offers for Maignan rejected by Milan, the first worth €10 million and the second increased to €15m.

Chelsea's valuation fell far below what Milan considered acceptable, with the Rossoneri demanding at least €23m or more for the France number one.

The Blues refused to increase their offer, believing that €15m was fair for a player whose contract expires in a year.

What did Tare say?

And that is where the negotiations between Milan and Chelsea for Maignan will end as Tare says that the goalkeeper will stay at San Siro next season.

“Maignan is not leaving, he will be at Milan next season too," said at a press conference in Milan.

"There was interest from a Premier League club [Chelsea] but in the end an agreement was not reached, knowing that Maignan is a point of reference not only on the pitch but also off it. We decided to focus on him and look forward together.

“The market is unpredictable, but for us, he remains a fixed point of this team.

"We need to convey a bit of enthusiasm, and for this reason, we are trying to understand what is needed to improve this team: they will all be players functional to this project to increase the quality of this team, which was already strong."

Tare also confirmed that Milan will sign Real Madrid legend Luka Modric, and that they are in talks for Bayer Leverkusen veteran Granit Xhaka.

He added that Theo Hernandez is close to joining Al-Hilal, that Yunus Musah will leave Milan, and had words or praise for Bayern Munich-linked Rafa Leao.
