Rashford handed new shirt number by United

Man Utd have signalled their intent to keep hold Marcus Rashford this summer by handing him a new shirt number, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Transfer reporter Romano understands the Red Devils have given Rashford the No. 14 jersey ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season.

Romano claims the decision reflects United’s willingness to retain the 28-year-old amid intense speculation surrounding his future.

Rashford last wore the No. 10 shirt at United, while he also donned the No. 39 jersey following his breakthrough into the first team in 2016.

Rashford has rejected chances to leave Old Trafford this summer

Romano also understands Rashford has turned down proposals from clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia this summer.

Rashford had hoped to complete a permanent move to Barcelona following a successful loan spell at Camp Nou last season.

However, the La Liga giants decided not to trigger their €30million (£26m) option to buy the 28-year-old England international.

While speculation is rife regarding Rashford's future, Romano understands the forward has no interest in moving to Turkey or Saudi Arabia.

“Man Utd are really feeling that there is a concrete, strong likelihood of seeing Marcus Rashford staying,” Romano said in a YouTube video.

“At the moment, there are no movements with other clubs. Rashford is not accepting Turkey or Saudi. These solutions are not interesting for Marcus Rashford.

“He’s not going to consider [them], and it’s not about the money. It’s not about the proposals. He doesn’t want to play in these [types of] clubs at this stage of his career.”

United hoping to beat Arsenal to Leicester wonderkid

United are in talks with Leicester City over a deal to sign teenage sensation Louis Page, according BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel.

Mokbel understands the Red Devils are hoping to beat Arsenal and Aston Villa to the 18-year-old’s signature, with negotiations currently ongoing.

Page is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in England, with the midfielder having been named EFL Apprentice of the Year last season.

Having signed those terms with Leicester, United would have to pay a transfer fee in order to land England Under-20 international Page.

New signing Santos backs himself to replace Casemiro

New signing Andrey Santos believes he is capable of replacing Casemiro as United’s new number six this season.

The 22-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils after arriving from Chelsea in a deal worth up to €58.2m (£50m) in July.

Santos’ move to Old Trafford coincided with the departure of Casemiro, who left following the expiration of his contract in June.

Casemiro, who has since joined Inter Miami on a free transfer, became a fan favourite during his four-season stay at United.

However, Santos does not feel overwhelmed by the challenge of replacing his Brazil compatriot in United’s midfield.

In quotes carried by BBC Sport, Santos said after United’s 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain in pre-season: “I prefer playing deep like a number six.

“I try help my teammates without the ball and with the ball I love breaking the lines.

“For me Casemiro is a legend. Now he's gone and I'm here. I feel that I can do like Casemiro did last season.”
