Man Utd Transfer News Today: Baleba latest as Romano says ‘signing almost guaranteed’
All the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip from Manchester United, with official comment on the Carlos Baleba saga, a new left-back rumour and the latest from Fabrizio Romano.
Brighton break silence on Carlos Baleba deal
Brighton CEO Paul Barber has refused to confirm the rumours that Carlos Baleba is getting close to joining Man United.
Speaking to TalkSport, he said: "At this time of year, we're always going to be subject to bids for our players, we are always going to be interested in ones that are sensible and that are going to make sense for us financially and economically.
"But we always have to balance that with making sure the squad is as strong as it can be to compete in competitions like the one we are in tonight [Conference League].
"So nothing to really say on Carlos at the moment other than he's a hugely talented young midfielder who's done really well for us and has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world now for a couple of years. Let's see where we go."
United are thought to be advancing in talks on a deal worth in the region of £65 million for the Cameroon international.
Jorge Salinas emerges as new left-back target
Man Utd continue to scour the market for a new left-back, with Jorge Salinas of Racing Santander emerging as a new target, TeamTalk reports.
United are said to have scouted the 19-year-old ‘extensively’ while the €16 million release clause on the youngster’s head makes him a player whose deal should be relatively uncomplicated.
Atletico Madrid are also interested in Salinas.
The Red Devils, meanwhile, have numerous other left-back options, including Newcastle’s Lewis Hall, RB Leipzig’s David Raum and Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys.
Rashford responds to Carragher rant
Marcus Rashford has thanked former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher for refusing to speak about the winger’s future.
Carragher was asked on the Overlap what he thought would happen with the Man Utd academy product this summer but rapidly shutdown the subject, saying that Rashford deserves the opportunity to work without scrutiny.
The United star responded on X: “Thanks, Jamie. It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day.”

Fabrizio Romano ‘almost guarantees’ signing
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has said that when Baleba is announced by United, there will be at least one – but potentially two – more arrivals at the club.
He said: “The expectation is for the next signing at Man Utd to be Carlos Baleba. But Manchester United are not done yet on the market.
“This is the way to go for a left-back, and let's see what happens up front if Joshua Zirkzee leaves. So it could be two more signings after Baleba for Manchester United.
“One left-back, I would say, is almost guaranteed, and then one more striker only if Zirkzee leaves.”
Ederson on failed Man Utd move: I don’t know what happened
Atalanta midfielder Ederson says he does not know why his move to Manchester United broke down at the last moment.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he said: “I honestly don’t know what happened.
“I always had interest from other clubs, and I could've gone to another English side. The tests went well, I don’t know what changed.
“I've been with Atalanta for four years and always played. I could've just waited to see what happened, but the great rapport with the club convinced me to stay and sign a new contract.”
