Liverpool told Bradley Barcola deal ‘will’ happen despite huge PSG asking price
Liverpool’s chances of finally signing Bradley Barcola are strong, with a prominent transfer journalist explaining that “everyone involved in this deal thinks there will be an agreement” – even if it costs a record fee.
The Reds have made France international Barcola their top choice at left wing, with the PSG star thought to be pushing for a move.
While an agreement with the player over personal terms is thought to be in place, the two-time Champions League holders are proving to be more complicated to negotiate with.
PSG have put an asking price of €170 million on their left winger and have so far refused to shift from this valuation.
With Liverpool so far unflinching in their desire to pay less, a standoff has ensued, although French transfer expert Fabrice Hawkins does not believe that the impasse will be permanent.
PSG have ‘no intention’ to keep Barcola
“Bradley Barcola wants to join Liverpool. PSG were informed earlier of his desire, and it was accepted,” Hawkins told the After Foot podcast.
“There’s no intention to keep Bradley Barcola. The sticking point has been the valuation, where they started at €170m.
“Liverpool have made different verbal offers. They’ve made offers since the verbal one, but there hasn’t been a written offer yet because, at this level, I think the next written offer will be the one that gets it done.
“We’ve understood that it would be somewhere between €130m and €150m, but in any case, it won’t be below €120m for Bradley Barcola. Everyone involved in this deal thinks there will be an agreement.”
With PSG having signed Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres and Mika Godts this summer to refresh their attacking sector, Hawkins believes that the Parisians will sell, with a fee of €150m likely.
Liverpool also chasing Endrick: ‘Big-money offer expected’
Another player who could be making the move to Anfield this summer is Real Madrid attacker Endrick, with Tim Vickery telling TalkSport that sources in Brazil believe a big-money deal is in the making.
“This is getting a lot of traction in Brazil at the moment,” he said. “Liverpool are apparently preparing a big-money offer – but the fee that's being reported that Liverpool want to offer is less than Real Madrid for him a couple of years ago.
"Now, he hasn't been a failure at all, and the problem with Real Madrid is he went to a club that didn't need him – but his numbers even with Real Madrid aren't bad.
"And he did very well on loan with Lyon, so there's no way that he can be worth less than he was as an 18-year-old when Real Madrid bought him. So, that is, I think, problem number one.
"How high are Liverpool prepared to go? And would Real Madrid want to sell him to a competitor in the Champions League?"
With Jeremie Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo so far the only signings this summer at Liverpool, it’s been a slow market, but the signs are that it could soon pick up.
