Chelsea star reaches agreement to complete summer transfer
Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile has reached an agreement in principle with Napoli ahead of his proposed summer move, according to reports in Italy.
The 25-year-old has been identified as a key transfer target by new Napoli boss Massimiliano Allegri and the Serie A giants are currently locked in talks with Chelsea as they look to finalise a loan deal with an option-to-buy clause included.
Badiashile has racked up 71 appearances since his arrival at Chelsea from AS Monaco in January 2023, but he was omitted from the matchday team in each of their final eight Premier League matches of last season and he wasn’t included in the club’s squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia either.
The Blues are actively looking to offload him before Transfer Deadline Day on 1 September and it has been widely reported that Napoli are on the verge of signing him on loan for the 2026-27 season, with an option to buy next summer.
Juventus have also been linked with a move for Badiashile, but the Frenchman has now agreed terms with Napoli, as per transfer reporter Nicolo Schira.
“Agreement in principle between Benoit Badiashile and Napoli for a contract until 2031 (one season loan + 4-years) with a salary of €2.8M per year,” he posted on X.
“Talks are progressing well between Napoli and Chelsea for a loan with the option to buy.”
Trevoh Chalobah and Axel Disasi are also close to formally leaving Chelsea, with the former set to complete a €30 million switch to Como and the latter tipped to join Crystal Palace on an initial loan deal.
Who else will Chelsea offload this summer?
After signing the likes of Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix and Marco Palestra so far this summer, Chelsea have fully turned their attention to player exits and they are expected to be extremely busy on this front before Deadline Day.
Badiashile, Chalobah and Disasi are all highly likely to leave, as mentioned, while they will be followed by Filip Jorgensen, Gabriel Slonina, David Datro Fofana, Marc Guiu and at least one of Nicolas Jackson or Liam Delap.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have initiated contact over a possible move for Pedro Neto, and he could be sold alongside both Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez.
Youngsters such as Reggie Walsh, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Omari Kellyman, Shumaira Mhueka and Ishe Samuels-Smith are being lined up for loan moves away.
