Fabrizio Romano understands Serie A side Roma have reached a verbal agreement with Porto over a €25million (£21.3m) deal to sign Rodrigo Mora.

Transfer insider Romano claims the Italian outfit are also in talks with Lyon over a move for Malick Fofana, having already agreed personal terms with the winger.

The news comes after Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported Roma were considering a move for Chelsea attacker Gittens.

Gittens joined the Blues from Borussia Dortmund in a €56.7m (£48.5m) deal last summer, with the forward signing a seven-year contract with the club.

However, the 22-year-old endured a difficult first season in west London, recording one goal and five assists in all competitions.

Despite those struggles, Gittens revealed to BBC Sport in July that he has been told he is part of Xabi Alonso’s plans for the upcoming season.

“He (Alonso) just wants me to keep being positive, to keep taking on players, to keep creating chances and to keep pushing myself to the maximum,” said Gittens.

“I want to succeed here. I need to show people what I can do. I've shown small glimpses, I would say, but this season will be a good season.”

Fenerbahce slammed reports linking them with Gittens

There was loose speculation in Turkey over the weekend suggesting Fenerbahce were weighing up a move for Gittens.

However, the Super Lig giants took to social media to label the speculation as an attempt to “manipulate the club”.

In a statement on X, they said: “Reports circulating in some media outlets today regarding our club's interest in Chelsea FC player Jamie Gittens are completely unfounded and do not reflect the truth.

“We once again clearly state that attempts to manipulate Fenerbahce Sports Club through false transfer claims and artificially created agendas will have no effect.

“Fenerbahce conducts its sporting structure, transfer policy, and future planning in all branches, especially football, in accordance with its own strategy, needs, and established programs.

“Therefore, we expect this approach of using our club's name to create public opinion and steer Fenerbahce towards certain directions to cease.

“We respectfully request that our great Fenerbahce fans disregard such unfounded news.”

Chelsea are preparing to open up their 2026-27 Premier League campaign with a trip to Fulham next Monday, in what will be Alonso’s first competitive match in charge.

The Stamford Bridge club have backed Alonso with the signings of Marco Palestra, Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Valentin Barco, Pep Chavarria, Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck this summer.

Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Denner and Dastan Satpaev have also joined Chelsea on deals that were negotiated before Alonso’s appointment in May.
