Arsenal Transfer News Today: Victor Osimhen latest as talks confirmed
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Victor Osimhen and Gabriel Martinelli.
Victor Osimhen latest
Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek insists that Victor Osimhen will not be sold for any price this summer, amid rumoured interest from Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been linked with a move for the Nigeria striker before the end of the summer window, with reports suggesting that negotiations over a possible deal have already taken place.
In addition to Arsenal, Osimhen has also been linked with a sensational move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal, but Ozbek has now ruled out a sale.
“I will not say ‘yes’ to any transaction that will harm Galatasaray or not benefit Galatasaray,” Ozbek told club insiders, as per Turkish outlet 343 Digital (via Football.London).
“What I said about Baris Alper Yilmaz, I am now saying even more strongly about Osimhen. No matter how much the price is, I am not selling Osimhen.”
Gabriel Martinelli talks
Napoli are in talks over a possible summer swoop for Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli, FootballTransfers can confirm.
Turkish giants Galatasaray are eager to finalise a deal for the 25-year-old, while FootballTransfers has been informed that Napoli have opened negotiations over a potential deal, with the Serie A giants currently in talks with an intermediary.
We understand that discussions are ongoing, although Arsenal will not sell Martinelli this summer unless they are able to find a suitable replacement before Transfer Deadline Day.
Athletic Club winger Nico Williams remains on Mikel Arteta’s radar, however we understand that he will not leave Spain this summer and Arsenal must therefore pursue an alternative target if they are to sanction the sale of Martinelli to Napoli.
Bradley Barcola is also appreciated, but Arsenal will not match Paris Saint-Germain’s current asking price of over €150 million.
Martinelli was omitted from Arsenal’s matchday squad for the Community Shield final versus Manchester City on Sunday, and we have been told that he is open to leaving Arsenal if an attractive offer arrives before the end of the window.
Myles Lewis-Skelly message
Myles Lewis-Skelly sent a firm statement of intent to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with his performance against Man City in the Community Shield final.
Riccardo Calafiori opened the scoring inside the first 30 second and while his finish was excellent, it was Lewis-Skelly who created the opportunity with a smart drop of the shoulder to get beyond Phil Foden and an excellent incisive pass in behind the City defence.
The England international has been heavily linked with an Arsenal exit in recent weeks, with Chelsea and Manchester United both tipped to pursue a deal, and it has been reported that a sale will be considered if the Gunners receive a suitable bid.
However, Lewis-Skelly proved exactly why Arsenal can’t afford to sell him on Sunday afternoon. The 19-year-old delivered a world-class assist to set the Gunners on their way at the Principality Stadium, while his all-round performance in the middle of the park was also exemplary.
Lewis-Skelly won the midfield battle against €135 million man Elliot Anderson and after establishing himself as a starter during the latter stages of last season, in place of Martin Zubimendi, there is no reason why the England star can’t play a pivotal role for Arsenal this term.
Mikel Arteta confirms plan
Arsenal have signed Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier so far this summer, but Arteta has admitted that he wants the club to add additional signings before the window closes.
“We know there are certain areas that through injuries we are weaker and we need to strengthen,” he told reporters after the win over Man City.
“We’re trying to do that and we’ve been trying to do that for weeks. Only when the opportunity is right for the club will we do it.”
Ethan Nwaneri to leave
Ethan Nwaneri was omitted from Arsenal’s squad to face Man City and the England U21 international is set to depart the club before Deadline Day.
This has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “Ethan Nwaneri will leave Arsenal before the end of the summer transfer window, as planned weeks ago.
“He’s not even on the bench today against Man City despite being involved in pre-season.”
