A deal worth €87.5 million has been agreed with Newcastle and Guimaraes has been given permission to travel for a medical and to sign his contract.

“Bruno Guimaraes has authorisation to travel and undergo his medical as a new Arsenal player,” Romano confirmed.

“Everything is done. The fee is £75 million. It was the big story this morning. Bruno is going to join Arsenal. That's guaranteed and that's completed.”

Chelsea want Zubimendi

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has reportedly informed club officials of his desire to sign Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi before the end of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old joined Mikel Arteta’s side from Real Sociedad for €70 million last July and he played a pivotal role as the Gunners won the Premier League title for the first time since 2004 during his debut season at the club.

Zubimendi played every single league game for Arsenal last season, scoring five goals, and Alonso is keen to lure him across London to Stamford Bridge, according to a report from Chelsea transfer insider Simon Phillips.

It’s claimed that Alonso has personally requested the signing of Zubimendi this summer, although there is no indication that Chelsea are ready to seriously pursue a deal, while Arsenal are expected to rebuff any offers, having only signed him last year.

Arteta ‘sold glue’ for Guimaraes transfer

Mikel Arteta has admitted that he was prompted to sell the ‘glue’ of the Arsenal’s squad to allow Bruno Guimaraes to join from Newcastle.

Bruno is set to join Arsenal in a deal worth £75 million, which forced Arteta to assess his midfield options, leading to Christian Norgaard joining Everton after just one year a the club.

“He played a tremendous role for us," Arteta said of Norgaard. “When I brought him here I said that he could be our glue player. He has an incredible capacity to bring players together and keep the standards high.

“When he played, he had some really good moments as well. But I understand to fulfil that role for long periods is not easy. He had a massive opportunity with a manager and a club I know really well. I wish him all the best and thank you.”

Vini Jr rejects Arsenal to extend contract with Real Madrid

Vinicus Junior has reached an agreement to renew his contract with Real Madrid, ending speculation linking the winger with a move to Arsenal.

The Brazilian international was into the last year of his contract and had so far failed to reach an agreement over an extension, which led to reports that Madrid were ready to cash in on him this summer if talks continued to stall.

Arsenal had been willing to meet Vini Jr’s salary demands and offer Real Madrid a substantial fee but the Spanish giants held renewed talks with their star player in recent days to try and trash out a deal.

The Athletic have now revealed that a breakthrough has been reached over a new contract, believed to be a six-year deal, although complete terms have not been confirmed as of yet.

Nolan calls for Nico Williams over Vini Jr

Kevin Nolan has told Arsenal to pursue a deal for Athletic Club winger Nico Williams amid Vinicius Junior’s new contract at Real Madrid.

“He's obviously a complex character. His off-the-field stuff probably doesn't suit what Arteta looks at. And I think they do go into all that great detail as well,” Nolan told talkSPORT when asked about Arsenal’s interest in Vini Jr.

“What's the character of the person? What's his attitude like? What's his personality like?

“I think someone like a Nico Williams would be perfect for an Arsenal. In that left-hand side role, or Barcola, if you like. They're the ones who I thought would suit more of an Arsenal-type player than Vinicius Jr.”
