Arsenal Transfer News Today: Arsenal get Vincius Junior update as hijack deal offered to rivals
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Mika Godts, Vinicius Junior and Bruno Guimaraes.
Vini Jr transfer facing d-day
Arsenal’s pursuit of Vinicius Junior is reaching a crucial stage, with the Real Madrid star set to decide on his future in the coming days.
Vini Jr is in the final year of his contract and has so far not been able to agree an extension with Los Blancos, leading to fears that he will need to be sold this summer to avoid leaving on a free in 2027.
Arsenal are prepared to go all out for Vini and have indicated they are willing to make him their highest-ever earner as well as meet Real Madrid’s demands for a fee.
The Athletic have confirmed that Vinicius is open to lowering his demands to secure a new deal but he is thought to also be attracted by a move to The Gunners if an extension can’t be agreed with Real Madrid.
Guimaraes deal latest
Bruno Guimaraes is believed to be closing in on a move to Arsenal despite incoming Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle preparing talks with his club captain next week.
Jaissle is set to be appointed as Eddie Howe’s successor in the coming hours and the new coach is keen to hold talks with Guimaraes at Newcastle’s training camp in La Masia.
Guimaraes is due to fly to Spain on Sunday from Brazil and report for training on Monday, even with negotiations going on over his exit and after he had asked to leave for Arsenal.
Multiple reports have claimed that Guimaraes could even have a medical next week over a €90 million move despite Newcastle sources insisting a formal bid has not been placed for their captain.
Arsenal to sell Norgaard
Everton have reached an agreement in principle to sign Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard, David Ornstein has confirmed.
Norgaard joined the Gunners last summer for €11 million but only played 102 minutes of Premier League football, mainly being used as a squad player in cup competitions.
The 32-year-old is in the last year of his contract and Arsenal have opted to cash in on him amid speculation that they are closing in on a deal for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes.
Everton are set to pay £7m (€8.2m) for Norgaard and The Athletic have revealed that the Danish international is set to undergo a medical next week once the deal has been formally agreed.
Arsenal could hijack Godts transfer
Arsenal have been given a chance to hijack Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer for Mika Godts, according to TEAMtalk.
Godts is in talks to move to PSG for a fee of around €60m after the French champions moved for the Ajax star as an alternative to Yan Diomande, who is set to join Real Madrid.
It is claimed that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been informed of Godts situation and they could all utilise the opportunity to try and beat PSG to the 21-year-old’s signing.
The Gunners are in the market for a left winger like Godts but they are instead focused on a deal for Vinicius Junior and are unlikely to make a move.
