Man Utd Transfer News Today: Manu Kone offer as midfield problem solved
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Manu Kone, Nicolas Raskin and Marcus Rashford.
Kone bid imminent
Man Utd are expected to place an offer for AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone shortly, as per Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness).
Contrary to some sensationalist claims, a deal has not yet been agreed for the France international, but Man Utd are ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign him. Kone is keen on a move to Old Trafford, although his dream destination would be PSG.
It is not clear how much Man Utd are prepared to pay for Kone. Roma are willing to cash in on him to balance the books and fund incoming signings, and they are reportedly demanding north of €50 million.
Is Raskin the solution?
Man Utd are among the clubs keeping tabs on Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin, according to the Daily Record.
The Belgium international is coming off an impressive World Cup, which has increased the interest in him. Raskin is likely to leave Ibrox this summer after already fielding offers last year.
Raskin would give Man Utd the tenacity and ability to cover ground that their other new midfield signings lack, and he is believed to be very affordable. However, there are concerns over whether he is at the required level to start for Man Utd after a patchy season with Rangers.
Rashford rejects offers
Man Utd winger Marcus Rashford has rejected "lucrative offers" from suitors, The Athletic reports.
The England star will return to Carrington after his post-World Cup holiday, with Barcelona having decided against making his loan permanent. Rashford has had the opportunity to join other clubs, but he has so far turned down every offer to leave the Red Devils.
It therefore increasingly looks like he will be reintegrated into the Man Utd squad by Michael Carrick. The club are still receptive to offers, but their hands are tied if he doesn't want to leave.
Promising keeper leaves
Man Utd academy goalkeeper Darlington Osuchukwu has joined Athletic Club.
The highly-rated 16-year-old goalkeeper recently announced his departure from Man Utd on his social media channels, and it has now been confirmed that he has joined the Bilbao giants in LaLiga.
Osuchukwu, who arrived at Man Utd at age 13, is not Basque, but he is eligible to sign for Athletic Club after growing up in Pamplona and previously spending time at Gazte Berriak in the Ansoain region of Navarre, which has strong links to Basque culture.
