Chelsea receive new interest in €40m star available for sale - but there’s a catch
Inter Milan hold an interest in signing Trevoh Chalobah but they are yet to make an offer for the Chelsea defender, according to reports in Italy.
Widespread reports understand Chelsea need to offload players in order to raise funds to back Xabi Alonso in the transfer market.
Chelsea announced a staggering pre-tax loss (€306.2million/£262.4m) for the year ending June 30 2025 in April of this year - the largest ever recorded by a Premier League club.
A host of players have been linked with summer departures as a result, including England international Chalobah.
The Times reported in June that Chelsea rejected a €25.6m (£22m) bid from Italian side Como for Chalobah, with the Stamford Bridge club valuing the 27-year-old at €40.8m (£35m).
However, Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport understands Como face competition from Serie A rivals Inter for Chalobah’s signature.
Yet the same publication claims while Chalobah would prefer a move to Inter, the Serie A champions are yet to table an offer as they are also keen on fellow centre-back Evan Ndicka from Roma.
Gazzetta understands Como are refusing to give up hope of signing Chalobah, however, after sporting director Carlalberto Ludi expressed his admiration for the Chelsea academy graduate.
In quotes carried by Gianluca Di Marzio, Ludi simply said: “Chalobah is a very strong player,” before refusing to elaborate on Como’s interest.
Chelsea keen to sign Palace defender Lacroix
The news comes after talkSPORT reported earlier this week that Chelsea are willing to offer Chalobah to Crystal Palace as part of their efforts to sign France international Maxence Lacroix.
BBC Sport also reported earlier in the week that the Blues are now prioritising signing a centre-back after capturing Marco Palestra from Atalanta in a deal worth around €55m (£47.1m).
An alternative report from French publication L’Equipe claims Palace value Lacroix at €55million (£47.1m), with the 26-year-old contracted to Selhurst Park until 2029.
Lacroix has excelled for Palace since moving to south London from German side Wolfsburg in August 2024.
He has been a near ever-present for Palace in the last two seasons, helping the club win the FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Conference League in that time.
