Bettoni signing announced

Fabrizio Romano has announced that Chelsea have completed the signing of Wigan Athletic prospect Harrison Bettoni.

The 18-year-old made 27 senior appearances for the League One side last season, but he has now departed after letting his contract expire. Bettoni will join Chelsea on a contract until 2030.

Despite formally being a free transfer, Chelsea will be forced to pay Wigan an undisclosed compensation fee for developing the player. Bettoni had been with the club since the U13 level.

Alonso confirms Garnacho stance

New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he is looking to sell Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine has been transfer-listed by Chelsea despite only joining the club last summer. Chelsea reportedly want €50 million for the 21-year-old and are keen to get him off the books within the next two weeks.

"We have spoken with the sporting directors and there is interest in him from other clubs," Alonso said during his introductory press conference. "Let's see how it develops. Hopefully it finishes in the best possible way for all parties."

Chavarria disillusionment

Chelsea are unhappy that Rayo Vallecano have "moved the goal-posts" during talks over a deal for Pep Chavarria, as per Ben Jacobs.

The Blues claim that the LaLiga side initially indicated that they would accept a €15m fee for the 28-year-old, but they are now insisting on a €25m package. Chelsea could bypass club-to-club talks by triggering his €50m release clause, but they do not want to overpay for the left-back.

Meanwhile, MARCA writes that Chelsea are poised to make a fresh bid for Chavarria that could meet Rayo's €25m valuation, albeit only via add-ons. It remains to be seen if the offer will be accepted, but Chelsea remain optimistic that a deal is possible.

Alonso wants Fernandez to stay

Xabi Alonso has announced that he wants wantaway midfielder Enzo Fernandez to stay.

The Argentina international has requested to leave Chelsea after the club failed to qualify for Europe, and he has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid. However, the Spanish giants have already announced that they will not pursue a deal.

"We have spoken. As you can understand, what was said remains private," Alonso stated before responding with "yeah, yeah" when asked if he wants to keep Fernandez.

Man Utd sign Santos

Man Utd have officially announced the signing of Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos.

The Brazil international has joined the Red Devils in a deal believed to be worth up to €58m-€59m and signed a contract until 2031 with the option for a further season.

Santos wanted to leave Chelsea in search of regular game time elsewhere. Man Utd had already expressed an interest in the 22-year-old during discussions with the Blues over Alejandro Garnacho last summer.
