Arsenal Transfer News Today: Free run at Enzo Fernandez as World Cup star a 'serious' option
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Enzo Fernandez, Leandro Trossard and Bruno Guimaraes.
Exclusive: Guimaraes unhappy at Newcastle
FootballTransfers understands that Bruno Guimaraes is growing increasingly frustrated at Newcastle.
The Brazil international is concerned about the club's direction, with player sales and uncertainty over Eddie Howe's future fuelling a sense that it might be better for him to leave the club.
Guimaraes hasn't yet asked to leave, but it is a possibility that is being considered. Arsenal recently had a verbal offer for the 28-year-old rejected by Newcastle, who do not want to lose their captain after selling Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.
Fernandez opportunity?
Man City are not interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, as per Fabrizio Romano.
The Argentine is looking to leave Stamford Bridge, but his dream transfer to Real Madrid looks to be off the table after the club released a public statement denying any interest in signing him.
Instead, it has been suggested that Arsenal and Man City are "gathering information" on Fernandez, but Romano insists that the latter are not keen on him, despite the appointment of his former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca. This could leave Arsenal with a free run at the 25-year-old.
"My understanding is that Manchester City are not in conversation for Enzo Fernandez," Romano said. "At the moment, it’s cold between Enzo and Man City."
Besiktas push for Trossard
Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard is a "serious candidate" in Besiktas' search for a new left-winger, Sercan Dikme understands.
Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal have already agreed a €20 million package for the Belgium international with Besiktas. Dikme corroborates that there are no issues with club-to-club talks.
However, Trossard has yet to make a decision on his future and won't do so until the Red Devils' World Cup campaign concludes. Consequently, Besiktas are also exploring deals for alternatives, such as Sassuolo's Armand Lauriente.
Odegaard rumours rubbished
Galatasaray are not closing in on a deal to sign Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, according to football.london.
Reports in Turkey have claimed that Odegaard has agreed personal terms with the Istanbul giants and that club-to-club negotiations were set to start, with Gala looking to pay less than €40m.
However, it is understood that there is no agreement between Odegaard, nor has his agent been in Istanbul recently. The Norwegian is "very happy" at Arsenal, and the club are very happy with him despite his injury problems.
Hjulmand deal still on
Atletico Madrid have thus far failed to reach an agreement with Sporting CP for the transfer of Morten Hjulmand, the latter's president Frederico Varandas has confirmed.
Atleti are believed to have agreed terms with the Dane, but an opening offer for him has been rejected. Arsenal could still enter the race for the boyhood Gunners fan after reportedly holding talks with him in May.
"Hjulmand is still a Sporting player," Varandas said. "We received an offer from Atletico Madrid, which we rejected. It’s a long way from the value we want."
