Rogers price confirmed

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Aston Villa are demanding a fee in the region of €150 million (£130m) for Morgan Rogers, who remains Arsenal's top target.

"For Morgan Rogers, Aston Villa want to put a price around £130m to let him leave this summer," Romano said. "Villa are aware of Arsenal's interest and of interest from other clubs, including Chelsea.

"But in this moment, Arsenal have made very good progress on the player's side for some time. And so, Arsenal keep pushing for Rogers. Arsenal hope to find a way to negotiate, maybe with add-ons, maybe with a different structure.

"Arsenal hope to be creative in order to find a solution for Rogers."

New Guimaraes push

Arsenal are set to make a new offer for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to The Chronicle.

The Gunners recently had a verbal proposal rebuffed by Newcastle, who insist that the Brazil international is not for sale. However, Arsenal will not give up that easily. The Magpies are "braced" for another offer.

In the meantime, work continues behind the scenes, and it is believed that Arsenal's strong link with Guimaraes' representative and his agency will stand them in good stead, especially as the midfielder's head is said to have already been turned by the interest.

However, Tottenham are believed to be closing in on a deal for Sandro Tonali, which will only harden Newcastle's Guimaraes stance. Losing their two best midfielders, in addition to Anthony Gordon, would be nothing short of disastrous for the St. James' Park club.

Meslier to replace Kepa?

Arsenal are monitoring former Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier, Sky Sports reports.

The Frenchman is now a free agent after his contract at Elland Road expired. Meslier was previously highly rated, but increasingly inconsistent performances saw him drop down the pecking order.

Arsenal could now look to bring him in as a backup to David Raya. Kepa Arrizabalaga is believed to be open to leaving the Gunners after one season should the right opportunity to be a No.1 elsewhere present itself.

Barcola passes audition

Arsenal had scouts in attendance to watch France's victory over Sweden on Tuesday, the BBC understands.

The main objective was to watch PSG winger Bradley Barcola in action, who is known to be a key target for Arsenal should a deal for Morgan Rogers prove unfeasible.

It is fair to say that Barcola passed his Arsenal audition with flying colours. He produced an impressive performance, capped off with a goal, as Les Bleus put Graham Potter's men to the sword in East Rutherford.
