Sandro Tonali signs for Tottenham and five transfers that could be completed this week
The 2026 World Cup might be in full swing but that has not stopped clubs from the Premier League and all over Europe from conducting major deals and transfers in the background.
The transfer window is open in England but European sides will have to wait until 1 July before they can formally complete any signings.
However, teams have continued to strike agreements and make big moves, such as Tottenham signing Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke for €60 million, while Liverpool also confirmed the arrival of Victor Munoz from Osasuna for €40m.
With plenty of deals still going on, FootballTransfers takes a look at five transfers that could be completed this week.
Jeremy Monga to Arsenal
Arsenal have been pursuing Jeremy Monga for a number of weeks now but a deal is closer than ever after reports that an offer was accepted this week for the Leicester wonderkid.
The 16-year-old has already agreed personal terms to join the Gunners and a deal of £10m (€11.6m) is understood to have been struck with Leicester instead of going to a tribunal.
Monga is keen to join Arsenal over any other club and Leicester are open to his sale after their relegation from the Championship, with the Foxes entitled to a fee having agreed to sign the teenager to professional terms when he turns 17 next month.
Sandro Tonali to Tottenham
Having already invested €70m into their defence with the signing of Van Hecke, Tottenham are determined to make another marquee signing under Roberto De Zerbi, with Sandro Tonali emerging as their top target.
Tonali is expected to leave Newcastle this summer after they missed out on European football for next season and Spurs are aiming to get ahead of rivals by closing a quick deal while the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City consider their options.
Tottenham saw an offer of around £80 million (€92.7m) rejected by Newcastle last week and the Magpies are understood to be holding firm on a £100m (€115.9m) asking price, with Tonali already open to joining Spurs if a fee can be agreed in the coming days.
Casemiro to Inter Miami
Having already confirmed his departure from Manchester United, Casemiro has already agreed terms to join a new club when his contract expires at the end of the month.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Brazilian is set to join Inter Miami to play alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the MLS.
Inter Miami could be forced to pay around £750,000 (€870,000) for the deal despite Casemiro being a free agent due to LA Galaxy holding the rights to his signature but a deal is expected to be confirmed and formally announced in the near future.
Nathaniel Brown to Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich are still expected to complete the signing of Nathaniel Brown despite having yet to agree a fee with Eintracht Frankfurt for the left-back.
Brown has established himself as a star player for club and country, having already impressed for Germany at the 2026 World Cup and Bayern are determined to seal a deal before his value rises any more.
A deal of €65m has been discussed and Brown has given his assurances to join Bayern, with the transfer still likely to be completed soon despite no progress being made over negotiations in recent days.
Marco Palestra to Inter
Inter are set to pull off a coup with the signing of Marco Palestra, with the young right-back rejecting interest from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea to join the Serie A giants.
Palestra impressed while on loan at Cagliari last season, which prompted attention from Europe’s top clubs, but the 21-year-old has been holding out for a move to Inter and appears to have finally got his wish.
The final details of a €50m deal with Atalanta is reaching an advanced stage and Inter could have their man in place in the coming days.
