Morgan Rogers breaks silence over transfer rumours
Morgan Rogers has spoken out over the transfer speculation linking the Aston Villa star with a move to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Rogers was a standout player in the Premier League last season as Villa qualified for the Champions League and the he is now believed to be a key target for the likes of Arsenal.
The 23-year-old is currently away with England for the 2026 and Rogers admitted that, while he may have had his head turned as a youngster, he was focused on his football for the time being.
When asked on The Rest Is Football if he had been affected by the speculation over his club future, Rogers said: "I think the first time it ever happened, it was.
“You are in an uncomfortable spot of not realising that people have so much interest in you and you're not quite realising it but, as you get older and you are getting experience along the way, you know that comes with it and that 95 percent of it is just noise.
“You hear it of course you do, you can't help not. You know it is there but you have got to use it as a positive way. You just try and get on with your game and just focus."
Aston Villa facing fight to keep Rogers after standout season
Rogers scored ten times and provided six assists while only missing just one Premier League game last season as well as scoring in Villa’s Europa League final win over Freiburg, leading to him being named the competition’s Player of the Season.
Despite signing a new contract until 2031 last year, Aston Villa’s tight financial situation has led to speculation that Rogers could be sold for around €100 million if offers come in for him.
Villa have no desire to lose their star man but they are aware of the interest and some at the club have an ‘expectation’ that Rogers could be sold despite the player not agitating for a move away.
Man Utd and Chelsea are keen to sign Rogers but Arsenal are considered the frontrunners for his signature, with FootballTransfers being told last month that the Gunners have already conducted the groundwork over a deal.
Rogers’ future will not be resolved until after the World Cup, at which point his profile and price tag could grow even further, but it appears inevitable that Villa will face a fight to keep hold of their talismanic star this summer.
