Chelsea Transfer News Today: €55m signing changes everything as surprise bid lands
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Maxence Lacroix, Granit Xhaka and Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Lacroix signing is a game-changer
Chelsea's impending signing of Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix is a game-changer for Sochaux, as per Jeunes Footeux.
The French side helped to develop the centre-back and are due a significant financial windfall from his expected move to Chelsea due to FIFA's solidarity contribution mechanism.
If the touted fee of €55 million turns out to be correct, Sochaux will stand to receive north of €1m, which is a huge deal for the club. To put it into perspective, their entire budget for next season is around €14m.
Xhaka bid
Chelsea have made a shock bid for Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka, journalist Luca Cerchione claims.
The Switzerland international won an unbeaten domestic double with Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, and his signing is an "express request" from the new Chelsea manager.
It is asserted that an opening bid of €30m has been made for the 33-year-old, which would be quite remarkable and would see Sunderland pocket a €15m profit on the veteran midfielder.
City barge into Bouaddi race
Man City have strongly entered the race to sign Lille sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Morocco starlet is a key target for Chelsea, but Man City are ready to make a tempting offer ot Lille, which would allow the Ligue 1 side to keep the 18-year-old for another season.
Man City are planning to only sign Bouaddi in 2027. Chelsea and Arsenal, on the other hand, want to bring the hugely exciting midfielder in this summer.
Araujo race heats up
Chelsea and Man Utd are battling for the signing of Sporting CP wing-back Maxi Araujo, Record understands.
After securing a transfer off the back of an impressive 2024 Copa America campaign, Araujo is poised to do the same following his performances at the World Cup. He was a standout performer in a dire Uruguay team that crashed out in the group stage.
The €70m-rated left-sided wide man is fielding strong interest from Chelsea and Man Utd, but it is the Blues who are believed to be the most likely club to sign him.
