Arsenal Transfer News Today: €130m Yan Diomande race blown wide open as controversial deal eyed
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Yan Diomande, Elijah Upson and Alex Scott.
Arsenal in Diomande race
Arsenal are firmly in the race to sign RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomande, according to Sky Sports.
The 19-year-old has continued his outstanding club form at the World Cup. Diomande stole the show in the Ivory Coast's 1-0 win over Ecuador at the weekend as he tormented Gunners defender Piero Hincapie in the first half.
Diomande has been heavily linked with Liverpool and PSG, but Arsenal are also keeping a close eye on his exploits in their search for a left-winger. Leipzig, though, are reluctant to sell for anything less than €130 million.
Arsenal keen on Scott
Arsenal have taken a liking to Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, The Athletic reports.
The Gunners are looking for midfield reinforcements and have now developed an interest in the 22-year-old following his immense campaign for Bournemouth. Arsenal have joined Man Utd in the race to sign Scott.
However, the Cherries do not want to lose their star midfielder. They are planning to hand him a bumper new contract, though they could include a release clause in the region of €86m to allow him to pursue a big move in the future.
Arsenal eye Spurs raid
The same outlet also writes that Arsenal are exploring a deal for Tottenham defender Elijah Upson.
The 18-year-old defender is the son of former Gunners star Matthew Upson and is set to leave rivals Spurs when his contract expires on 30 June. He will be free to choose his next club, with Arsenal firmly among his suitors.
The interest in Upson is part of a broader strategy aimed at recruiting highly-rated youngsters. Arsenal also remain in talks over a deal for Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga.
Fernandes boost?
Man Utd have informed West Ham that they will not match their €92 million asking price for Mateus Fernandes, as per the Daily Mirror.
The Red Devils are believed to be the favourites to secure the signing of the Portugal international, with Fernandes understood to be keen on moving to Old Trafford. However, West Ham are - for now - holding firm in hopes of starting a bidding war.
Man Utd's reluctance to pay big money could be good news for Arsenal and PSG, who have also explored a move for the 21-year-old midfielder. West Ham need to make sales this summer, so they may budge from their hefty valuation of Fernandes.
