Transfer Rumours: Valverde pushed to Man Utd as €115m battle explodes into life
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 13 May, including the latest updates on Federico Valverde, Elliot Anderson and Jarrod Bowen.
Man Utd mull over Valverde move
Man Utd are "weighing up" a move for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, the Daily Star claims.
The Uruguay international has been hospitalised after instigating an altercation with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni, and Real Madrid bosses are "furious" with him. It is claimed that they are actively considering selling him.
Man Utd are said to be keeping tabs on the situation amid their search for new marquee midfielders. Tchouameni is known to be one of their targets, but the Frenchman is reluctant to leave Real Madrid, so they may have to settle for Valverde instead.
Anderson race heats up
Chelsea are the latest club to show an interest in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, as per the i Paper.
The €115 million-rated England star is widely tipped to secure a big summer transfer, with Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd heavily linked with a move for him in recent months.
There has also been a tentative association with Chelsea, and it seems that their interest is genuine. However, the Blues are outsiders for his signature, with Man City still the favourites to win the battle for Anderson.
Bowen to stay at West Ham?
Jarrod Bowen could stay at West Ham even if they suffer relegation from the Premier League, according to TEAMtalk.
The winger has been the Hammers' lifeline in recent years and his exploits are once again attracting attention, with Tottenham and Everton among the clubs showing an interest in him.
Toffees boss David Moyes remains a huge admirer of the 29-year-old after previously coaching him. But Bowen is in no rush to leave West Ham, a club he has genuine affection for, and could decide to stay put even if their season ends in relegation.
Arsenal to miss out on Eichhorn
Arsenal no longer appear to be involved in the race to sign Hertha BSC wonderkid Kennet Eichhorn.
Sky Germany reports that five clubs are strongly pushing for the 16-year-old's signature, namely Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Man City and RB Leipzig. Eichhorn is available for just €12m due to a release clause.
City and Leverkusen are said to be collaborating on the potential signing of the teenager. The two clubs have an existing relationship after last summer's loan of Claudio Echeverri, and City are willing to park Eichhorn at Leverkusen until he is able to move to England when he turns 18 next year.
Fresh Konate concerns for Liverpool
Transfer insider David Ornstein has played down suggestions that Ibrahima Konate is close to signing a contract extension at Liverpool.
The France international is currently on course to become a free agent this summer as there is still no agreement with the Reds on fresh terms, despite talks now going on for more than a year.
Recent reports - and Konate himself - have suggested that a breakthrough is imminent, but Ornstein insists that "the situation is still at a stalemate, and it's not looking particularly positive."
