Real Madrid target Tottenham star as Endrick swap possibility emerges
Real Madrid are eyeing a Tottenham star in a move that could see Endrick move to the North London club next season.
Los Blancos are seeking to strengthen their central defensive options in the summer and, according to Fichajes, are ready to make a move for Cristiano Romero.
The Spaniards’ interest in the Argentine could potentially send 18-year-old striking sensation Endrick in the opposite direction.
Real Madrid want Cristian Romero
Real Madrid are ready to explore the possibility of signing Romero in the summer. The 27-year-old, who was sent off against Manchester United last weekend, has three seasons left on his deal but is regarded as an “outstanding” option for the Bernabeu side.
Los Blancos believe that Daniel Levy’s departure from Tottenham will help them negotiate a good deal.
Nevertheless, they are aware that Spurs won’t let their captain leave easily. He has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €60.7 million, though the North London side could well ask for a higher figure than this.
Endrick heading to Tottenham?
In order to facilitate a deal, the possibility of sending Endrick to Tottenham has opened up.
Spurs are said to be plotting a €100 million bid for the Brazil international striker, who is currently on loan at Lyon, having found space impossible to come by at Real Madrid this term.
Endrick’s prolific scoring at Lyon – he has five goals in six games – has sparked interest from the Premier League outfit, who are still looking for a long-term replacement for Harry Kane in the No.9 role. He is seen as a player who can “guarantee goals and immediate excitement”.
Deal to suit everyone possible
Real Madrid are in a strong bargaining position when it comes to Endrick. Even if it is tempting for them to complete a sale to ensure a massive profit on the €45m they invested in the teenager, the tendency is for them to retain the player on a long-term basis.
Nevertheless, an agreement with Tottenham does not seem impossible if they were to send Endrick to London for next season. In turn, they could demand a healthy discount on Romero.
Such a deal would allow Real Madrid the best of both worlds. Not only would they get the centre-back they want to bolster their defence, but Endrick would get the type of high-quality minutes he needs to progress his development as a player.
