Scott McTominay sends clear Man Utd message: 'It's all I think about!'
Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay has sent a clear message over his future amid reports that Manchester United are interested in bringing him back to Old Trafford.
The Scotland international has proved a spectacular acquisition for Napoli. McTominay was voted Serie A's Player of the Season as the Neapolitans stormed to the Scudetto last year.
This term, it hasn't quite been as smooth sailing for Napoli, but McTominay continues to be influential. The 29-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided four assists from midfield.
Man Utd had to reluctantly cash in on their homegrown in 2024 due to financial regulations, and they have been left regretting this decision ever since, so much so that reports have increasingly surfaced that they could look to re-sign their academy graduate.
Napoli, of course, are fully aware of these rumours. In order to quash the speculation and to reward the Scot for his impressive impact, the Italian giants want to hand him a new contract.
McTominay breaks silence on his future
The player's representatives are expected to arrive in Naples in March to discuss the midfielder's long-term future. McTominay's current deal still runs until 2028, but Napoli want to extend it further and offer him an improved salary.
Now, the player himself has addressed the situation. Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, McTominay has insisted that Napoli are the only thing on his mind and also dismissed claims that his agent is talking to suitors - or the press.
"My agent hasn’t spoken to anyone about my future," McTominay said. "He only talks to the club and me. He hasn’t said anything to the newspapers. I’m extremely happy here, and as for me, I’m a Napoli player. That’s all I think about.
"The future is very important, and I could see myself at Napoli for a long time," he added. "My family is happy, I’m happy. It’s a fantastic moment. I’ve experienced something different in the last year and a half. As long as everyone in my life is happy, I am too."
